{"id":17,"date":"2006-02-28T20:16:24","date_gmt":"2006-03-01T01:16:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gmu.mossiso.com\/697\/?p=17"},"modified":"2010-10-07T16:29:59","modified_gmt":"2010-10-07T20:29:59","slug":"class-notes-on-photoshop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mossiso.com\/2006\/02\/28\/class-notes-on-photoshop\/","title":{"rendered":"Class notes on Photoshop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>These notes are good for line drawings&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Problems with old lithographs, wood carvings, line drawings&#8230;.<br \/>\n&#8211; foxing: discoloration due to mildue, etc.<br \/>\n&#8211; yellowing of paper<br \/>\n&#8211; creases, folds, etc.<\/p>\n<p>Things to try (tying to get rid of the background color):<br \/>\n&#8211; crop the image and put it on a layer.<br \/>\n&#8211; Auto color, see if you can do the auto colors.<br \/>\n&#8211; change the color levels (little graph thingy showing levels)<br \/>\n&#8211; add layers below the image, put the background as a bright solid color. A middle empty layer helps with the blending.<br \/>\n&#8211; Blend the layers so the bright color permiates the previous background. Then change the layer&#8217;s background color.<br \/>\n&#8211; You can erase any foxing, or other blemishes in the background from the image layer.<\/p>\n<p>To play with and change the colors:<br \/>\n&#8211; Use the Selective Color tool, where you can slide the values of the colors in the image.<br \/>\n&#8211; To change to black &#038; white use &#8216;Desaturate&#8217; not gray scale.<br \/>\n&#8211; To switch colors, use the &#8216;Replace color&#8217; tool.
